Our Story – Her version

Back in 2004, I was an insomniac basically, a single one at that. So I spent ALOT of time online chatting with people and dating. I spent alot of time on a site called MySpace. I would surf around the site, find interesting people and say hello. I came across a profile that caught my attention. It wasn’t the handsome face on the profile, ok, maybe a little but the profile caption was what I responded to……Raping your mother at the speed of light. With my warped sense of humor, I laughed at this and started a conversation with this person. We chatted online on and off for months, just chatting, no planning, nothing major since we lived states away and we dated others, it was an online friendship. After months of friendship, I began to invite my friend to parties, bbq’s and other events that I held. We started corresponding regularly enough that it was not out of the ordinary to tell him to just come visit. Well in August of 2005, he took me up on my offer. He wanted to take a break from home and I provided the means of escape for him.

So on August 11, 2005 it began. I met Nabil for the first time. I subjected him first thing to all my friends where we met them at TGIFriday’s for appetizers and drinks. And we hung out for the weekend, and back home he went for his wiffle ball game……

I’m corny, I still have the email after his return:

8/14/2005 6:13 PM: Hey you, I had a super time this weekend, thanks for everything. Hopefully we figure something out semi-soon, and we can do it again, I would definitely like that.

Well on 8/15 after an 8+ hour phone conversation, I talked him into joining his family on a day trip to the Bronx Zoo and I would meet him there. Well long story short that was the last time he went home. On September 14th it was agreed to just have him move his items from Massachusetts to New Jersey. (sorry ma! – this is Nabils’ mom’s bday and yes, we were driving him back for this reason and that 3.5 hour drive made me never what to let him go).

So years later here we are. We bought a home together, cars, a dog! And Nabil proposed to me on January 30th, 2009. Luckily I made it back from the mall before he ditched that idea. But it was beautiful, even though I was completely embarrassed and giggled the whole time. Sorry love, I am not good with being the focal point of something so serious and emotional I suppose. Hope this is not a sign of how the wedding itself will go. Oh boy!
